Thanksgiving

Just give thanks. to everything.

Come to think of it today. I spent actually quite a few Thanksgiving in Boulder/Denver. My first Black Friday experience was at Cherry Creek Mall. (THE upscale mall in Denver) Since I was visiting and it was before internet age, so I just went there without knowing it is THAT upscale. I was driving a stick shift car belongs to my friend and was stuck on the leveled garage ramp trying to pull in a precious parking space. I was afraid of releasing my clutch and backing into the Mercedes behind me. (who was following too close)
In the end, the traffic attendant in the mall came up to see what was blocking the whole line, and parked the car for me. :)

Imagine that: a little Tercel driven by an Asian woman blocking the whole line of Lexus, Mercedes, BMW.....

今天收到三張明信片，都很有意思。這張來自美 Indiana一個叫Brazil的小鎮。寄者剪下食物包裝盒，做了這麼張卡。我很喜歡。

第二張Arizona 卻是一位Belgium 的mailman 寄出的。喜歡它的郵票。






























第三張是一張漫畫卡，寄者是在芬蘭做exchange student 的德國學生。

少年不識愁滋味

昨晚頂著絲絲細雨，在河濱騎單車。雨的味道，讓我想起大學時，某日晚上九點多，因為"心情不好"，頂著大雨，和一位平時不太對眼的屋友，從成大附近住處騎單車到小美津海邊。 (十公里單程，二十公里來回)
騎著騎著，兩人淋著大雨覺得"好爽"，開心地大笑。永遠記得，當時經過的機車騎士，看著這兩個落湯雞單車女騎士的眼光。
那年，我二十二歲，屋友才二十歲。

去年某個秋日週末，點了一杯Starbucks外帶，到St. Louis Botanical Garden走走。在車上忍不住照下這張喝了好幾口後，仍維持這麼美麗的fern.
一年後在台北，看著旅遊頻道的"1000 places to visit before you die",　about a coffee shop in British Columbia. 播著各種Latte 上的美麗圖形，想起了這張相片。(這個圖案是 fern)
在寂寞安靜的美國中西部，常不自禁地觀察著小小事物。天光，雲朵，咖啡。

擺不平

我說: 最近和友人聊天，發現人生過半，或生病，或失業 ，或婚姻受挫，或失去至親。人家是怎麼活下來的，為什麼我其實未經大風浪 ，卻擺不平自己呢?
心理師說: 你不知道人最擺不平的是自己嗎 ?面對人生悲苦時，人將內在的痛苦投射在於外在的事件，內在痛苦就成了外在的，比較容易應付，因為是外來的。而最深沈的痛苦是內在的，最難面對的。
人最難擺平的是自己，最最難面對的是自己。

經過羅斯福路上這家劉福記 (請看它的英文名吧）多次，被它的招牌吸引，今天終於決定去買把長傘。在低價長傘裡挑了最燦爛的一把（雖然是有點"聳"），希望只在雨天打傘的我，撐傘時也有陽光燦爛的心情。
說到低價，guess how much this cost? NT 200, a mere $6!

postcard from Finland

因為postcrossing,收到不少美麗的post cards.
這是來自Finland的，Ｃhildrend book 的插畫。人口五百萬的芬蘭，卻有比台灣美麗多多的許多post cards. 每次在書店找明信片時，總不懂為什麼國產的總比不上進口的。我們的市場小?可是，人家人口比我們少這麼多....

台北看病

台北看病，有這麼美麗的中庭可欣賞，還有現場音樂。

我坐在Starbucks喝了一杯咖啡，發現在醫院坐坐，其實頗有心理療效。聽著前後左右的人，談著他們的病症，會很感恩：自己的小病，沒什麼啦。

台北，年輕人

週五晚去逛誠品書店。想回台前，住Boston 好友說:＂真好，台北有誠品。世界上有24小時營業書店的大城市不多。紐約有，DC 有，倫敦有。台北有。＂
先去美食廣場吃個東西。旁邊坐了三個二十出頭的大男孩，聽到他們的一段對話:＂要出國啦。你都幾歲了?還待在台灣這個鳥不生蛋的地方。＂
我心想:　年輕人，你不知道＂鳥不生蛋的地方＂是什麼樣子哩。
吃完飯，去洗手間。聽到一位年輕小姐接電話:＂喂，爸"
想:　不錯，接父母電話很甜的聲音。
接下來"你不要停那裡啦，再停過來一點，我不想走那麼遠啦。＂

現在台北年輕人，真是幸福。

這兩張相片是週六攝影班去威秀拍人物時照的。是台哥大活動的走秀妹妹。笑容很是甜美。

Rose

十天前在台大前地下道買了這朵玫瑰花，NT 10。
十天後還是這麼美。這個城市的小小享受之一。

台灣人情味

早上精神恍惚，進停車位時不小心"吻"了車位旁的壁面一下，竟然...
到了朋友介紹的板金車廠，被告知零件只要幾百元，但修理再烤漆到好共要三千多元。上週五才換了剎車皮和碟盤，實在不想再 花錢。
問老闆有沒有便宜點的方式，老闆就拿來電鑽，將這一小塊"釘"上去。
歡喜讚嘆之餘，我拿出錢包準備付工錢，他竟然說:不用錢。
實在太令人感動了。
